WALKER —- Multiple agencies are investigating a deadly electrocution in Walker involving an ATV and a power line.

It was around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 23 when police and paramedics responded to Milton Rd. in Walker. That’s between Burgess Ave. & Burgess Rd.

Officials tell UWK Jarod Schaeffel, 39, was riding an ATV when he approached a low lying power line hitting the live line.

Schaeffel died on the scene, according to officials.

He leaves behind two children. His wife is asking for any help towards funeral arrangements.

“Jarod liked being the life of the party. He was a good dad and worked hard,” his wife Heather Willingham told UWK. “He was family oriented and very talented in his hobbies. He liked to joke around and was respectful.”

A few hundred people lost power immediately following the incident. Power was restored after 3 a.m. to all households and businesses.
