WALKER —- A two-vehicle crash Saturday night has claimed the life of a 40-year-old man from Holden.
It was just before 10:30 p.m. on August 8 when State Police Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Weiss Road (Hwy. 62) just south of Hwy. 449 in Livingston Parish.
Louis Gurka, 40, of Holden, died in the crash.
The investigation so far shows Gurka was driving a 2012 Toyota Camry south on Weiss Rd. At the same time, a 2019 Hyundai Elantra was going the opposite direction. For reasons still under investigation, Gurka crossed the centerline and hit the Elantra head-on.
Gurka was not buckled and died on the scene. The driver of the Elantra and a front seat passenger were both properly buckled and had serious injuries. They were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Impairment is unknown at this time. Toxicology samples were taken from both drivers and submitted for analysis.
