Two people died in a wreck on Hwy. 16 north of Sims Road in Livingston Parish on Monday, Nov. 21st.
The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office has identified the two as Cullen Pitre, 25, and Logan McDonald, 27.
“She was the sweetest, most beautiful, broken person. She has struggled with addiction for years. I’ve prayed and prayed for her addiction to be taken from her…now it has,” said McDonald’s mother Michelle Beeson Freeman.
Livingston Sheriff’s deputies were led on a short pursuit after they attempted to stop Benjamin Fontenot, 27. Instead, Fontenot took off.
Benjamin refused to stop & hit another vehicle after crossing the center line.
Officials say he had several outstanding felony warrants:
- Theft of motor vehicle
- Possession of schedule 2 narcotics
- Possession of schedule 1 narcotics
- Possession paraphernalia
- Possession of a legend drug
- Tail lamp/license plate
- Driving under suspension
- Bench warrant
- No seat belt
- Driving under suspension
Benjamin survived the crash and was taken to a hospital for his injuries. His two passengers died.
The occupants in the other vehicle had moderate to serious injuries and were taken to a local hospital.
Once Benjamin is released from the hospital, he will be charged with: 2 counts negligent homicide, 2 counts negligent injuring, 1 count aggravated flight and 1 count resisting arrest.

Amazing, simply amazing!!! ABSOLUTELY nothing that he was wanted for warranted a high speed chase. Once the deputy saw that he was going to run he should have backed off.
