DENHAM SPRINGS — Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics agents arrested a 43-year-old man on multiple drug-related charges following an investigation sparked by public complaints that he was allegedly distributing narcotics.
Deon “Hoggie” Jones was taken into custody on July 1 and is currently being held at the Livingston Parish Jail.
Agents with the LPSO Narcotics Division launched an investigation after receiving tips that Jones was allegedly distributing large quantities of cocaine, crack cocaine, and marijuana from his home on Florida Boulevard.
As a result of their investigation, agents obtained a search warrant and searched Jones’ residence, where they seized the following items (approximate quantities):
- 699.6 grams of cocaine
- 18.1 grams of crack cocaine
- 168.9 grams of marijuana
- 5.5 dosage units of Lorazepam
- 4 dosage units of Adderall
- 3 dosage units of MDMA
- 1 pint of Promethazine
- Glock .40 caliber handgun (reported as stolen through the St. Gabriel Police Department)
- Packaging material/Digital scales
- Key components to manufacture crack cocaine
- $10,023.00 U.S. Currency (pending seizure)
Jones faces multiple charges, including:
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Creation of a drug lab
- Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II drugs
- Possession of Schedule I, II, and IV drugs
- Illegal possession of a stolen firearm
- Felon in possession of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm in the presence of controlled dangerous substances
- Use of controlled dangerous substances in the presence of a minor
- Possession, sale, or distribution of a legend drug
The investigation remains ongoing.
