LIVINGSTON — A judge has revoked the bond for a Livingston Parish man accused in a fatal hit-and-run case. While waiting for trial in that case, Brandon Chenevert was arrested on Dec. 8. 2025 for various drugs charges.
According to Assistant District Attorney Brett Sommer, Chenevert was found with marijuana vapes in his vehicle back in December. Chenevert was charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute, Sommer said.
“He’s out on bond for a hit-and-run fatality and then in this case, he’s arrested with marijuana vapes in his car. I just find that so egregious,” Sommer told UWK.
In December, the prosecution requested that Chenevert remain in jail without bond. Chenevert’s defense requested that the motion to revoke bond be continued until February.
Chenevert’s bond was revoked in court on Feb. 10, 2026.
Holly Crow, mother of the young woman who died of her injuries from the hit-and-run crash gave UWK the following statement:

He was already out on bond for the felony hit?and?run that killed my daughter, Jody, when he was arrested again on new felony drug charges. Someone who continues to violate the law while facing such serious charges is a danger to the public, and we are grateful he will not be out putting others at risk. Even today, after being escorted into the courtroom, he turned around, made direct eye contact with me, and smiled until the officer told him to face forward. His actions speak for themselves. The judge’s ruling reflects the seriousness of his behavior, and we will continue fighting for justice for Jody every step of the way.”

A Livingston Parish man is now being held without bond as he awaits his next court date in February, according to Assistant District Attorney Brett Sommer.
Brandon Chenevert, who is awaiting trial in a fatal hit-and-run case, was arrested on Dec. 8 for various drugs charges, leading prosecutors to request that he remain jailed without release.
The motion to revoke bond was continued to Feb. 10, 2026, at the request of Chenevert’s defense, Sommer added.
The victim of the hit-and-run crash earlier this year, Jody Mann, was 20 years old when she died. Her mother, Holly Crow, attended court on Monday and said the ruling brings her some relief.
“Today’s ruling brings my family a sense of relief. Knowing that Brandon Chenevert will remain in jail until we go to court again on February 10th means he will not be walking free and endangering others while we continue our fight for justice. It doesn’t ease the pain of losing Jody, but it does affirm that her life matters and that accountability matters. We will keep showing up, speaking her name, and pushing forward until full justice is served.”

Brandon Chenevert, 31, was arrested on Dec. 8, 2025, by Livingston Parish Sheriff’s deputies. He is charged with possession with intent to distribute Schedule I and Schedule III drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful sale of a legend drug, failure to signal, and improper turn.
According to LPSO, Chenevert was at a Denham Springs convenience store where he was found to be in possession of numerous THC vape carts. Agents secured a search warrant for his home and allegedly seized the following:
- approx. 448g of marijuana (1lb)
- 5 vials of anabolic steroids
- approx. 51 dosage units of Tadalafil
- approx. 22 dosage units of Anastrozole
- approx. 28 dosage units of Cabergoline
- approx. 43 dosage units of Enclomiphene
- approx. 15 dosage units of Clomid
- approx. 35ml of promethazine
- Digital weighing scale and packaging material
- $8,100 U.S. Currency (pending seizure)

“It’s our policy when someone gets rearrested, we move to revoke their original bond,” Livingston Parish District Attorney Scott Perrilloux told UWK. Assistant District Attorney Brett Sommer has already requested a hold on Chenevert, meaning he cannot be released despite the new bond. Sommer is also filing a formal motion to revoke Chenevert’s original bond.
Chenevert was first arrested in April 2025 in connection with a deadly hit-and-run on March 29, 2025. The victim, 20-year-old Jody Mann, was severely injured, rushed to the hospital, and later died from her injuries.
According to State Police, the driver who hit Mann fled the scene. After troopers asked the public for help locating a vehicle with front-end damage, two anonymous tips led investigators to Chenevert.
He has pleaded not guilty to the original charges and had remained out on bond until his latest arrest.
