INDEPENDENCE —- An early morning crash on Saturday has left a 38-year-old man dead.
It was around 5:20 a.m. on Sept. 12 when Louisiana State Police Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 40 at Huck Road in Tangipahoa Parish.
James M. Crawford, 38, of Albany, died in the crash, LSP reports.
The preliminary investigation so far shows that Crawford was driving a 2018 Kia Soul west on Highway 40. For unknown reasons, troopers say he went off the roadway to the right side and hit a culvert.
Crawford was not buckled and was ejected from the vehicle. He was rushed to a hospital where he died from his injuries. He was alone in the vehicle.
As part of the ongoing investigation, routine toxicology samples were taken for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
