LIVINGSTON PARISH — Livingston Parish officials announced that the parish-wide burn ban will be lifted Tuesday evening.
The ban, that was re-issued on Sept. 27, will be canceled effective 6 p.m.
This summer, a statewide burn ban was issued on Aug. 7 because of extreme conditions. As of Sept. 27, the burn ban was modified to allow agricultural burning to resume, including but not limited to prescribed burning except for standing sugarcane.
According to the Department of Agriculture, parishes can opt out of the statewide burn ban. As of Tuesday afternoon, the local parishes that have opted out of the statewide ban include Ascension, Tangipahoa, and Livingston Parishes.
Any questions or concerns should be directed to your local fire chief.
