Livingston Parish: Two teens facing 18 charges connected to vehicle thefts

DENHAM SPRINGS — Two teens are in the Livingston Parish Detention Center, accused of multiple vehicle burglaries in August and September.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office burglary division started investigating several vehicle burglaries between August and September. The burglaries happened on the east side of the parish, according to officials.

During the investigation, LPSO detectives say they linked two suspects to the vehicle burglaries: James Cassidy, 19, and Shaun McKinney, 18. The two face approximately 18 counts each of vehicle burglary, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators believe one of the men pawned and sold the items on the streets for cash. More victims and charges are possible in Livingston Parish and in other jurisdictions, LPSO said.

McKinney was booked into the detention center on Sept. 14, according to jail records. Cassidy was booked on Sept. 19.
