WALKER — A Livingston Parish school system bus driver and a custodian have been arrested on drug and gun charges, the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
Reginald Stewart, 49, and his wife Bridgette Stewart, 54, were booked into the Livingston Detention Center on Thursday. Bridgette Stewart bonded out Friday. Reginald Stewart’s bond was set at $1,075,500. Bridgette Stewart’s bond amount was not immediately available.
Deputies say investigators found 19 guns, 19.6 grams of heroin and 1.3 grams of crack cocaine in a search of the couple’s home and vehicle.
Reginald Stewart was booked with possession of schedule I drugs with intent to distribute, possession of schedule II drugs with intent to distribute, creation or operation of a clandestine laboratory, possession of drug paraphernalia and 19 counts of possession of a firearm with drugs.
Bridgette Stewart was booked with possession of schedule II drugs with intent to distribute, creation or operation of a clandestine laboratory and possession of schedule IV drugs with intent to distribute.
The search also yielded what LPSO called “cook stations,” packaging materials and drug residue on appliances, the sheriff’s office said.
Livingston Parish Schools Superintendent Jody Purvis said the Stewarts are “no longer employed” there, according to information released by the sheriff’s office.
