Livingston Sheriff’s Office investigating shooting

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that happened at the Circle K on Hwy. 16 on Saturday, July 2, 2022.

It happened around 3 p.m. at the gas station on Hwy. 16 near Vincent Rd. in Denham Springs.

Four people have been arrested in connection to the shooting. Jimmy-Lee Drake Prickett was arrested on July 7, 2022, after his release from a local hospital. He was charged with simple robbery, obstruction of justice, and (conspiracy) possession with intent to distribute a schedule II drug (cocaine). Prickett was in the hospital after getting shot in the torso and arm.

LPSO’s investigation so far reveals four individuals, two from Denham Springs, one from Baton Rouge & one from Ponchatoula, met at the convenience store on Hwy. 16 for what is believed to be a drug deal.

“Once there, it’s believed the exchange turned to a robbery. A verbal fight turned physical. At some point, the parties began to quickly leave the scene and one fired off two rounds,” said LPSO Sheriff Jason Ard.

Others arrested:

Daniel Valdez, 27, of Denham Springs, is charged with Felon in Poss. of a Firearm, Agg. Battery (Principle), PWID Sched II (Cocaine). His bond is set at $80,000.

Christian York, 23, of Denham Springs, is charged with (Principle) Att. 2nd Degree Murder, (Principle) Illegal Use Weapon, (Conspiracy) Poss. Sched II (Cocaine). His bond is set at $185,000.

Coby Fry, 23, of Baton Rouge, is charged with Illegal Use Weapon, Att. 2nd Degree Murder, (Conspiracy) Poss. Sched II (Cocaine). His bond is also set at $185,000.
