LIVINGSTON — A third person has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting at Doyle High School’s baseball field on Friday night.
According to the Livingston Police Department, 24-year-old Lavorius Linson has been charged with first-degree murder, criminal conspiracy, first-degree robbery, and illegally supplying a firearm to a felon.
“We will not tolerate this type of activity or behavior in our Town,” Livingston Police chief Randy Dufrene said. “There are still several unanswered questions as this investigation continues. We are however, confident that the main players in this horrific crime on May 9th have been arrested.”
Police responded around 9 p.m. on May 9 to reports of a shooting at the baseball field located behind Doyle Elementary School, near McLin Road and Range Road. Officers say 23-year-old Evan Lynch was shot in the chest and later found in a vehicle about a mile from the ballpark. He was transported to a Baton Rouge hospital, where he died the next day.
Officers detained the vehicle’s driver and passenger for questioning. Authorities later identified the driver, 19-year-old Brandon Soileau, as the alleged shooter.
Soileau was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated burglary, obstruction of justice, and tampering with surveillance equipment.
Investigators believe the crime was premeditated and that Soileau did not act alone. On May 10, police arrested 23-year-old Caleb Rowley, who faces the same charges: first-degree murder, aggravated burglary, obstruction of justice, and tampering with surveillance equipment.
“Our officers have been working nonstop since the initial call Friday. We will not let up until everyone involved in this incident is in jail,” Dufrene said.
“It is important to reiterate to the Town citizens this tragedy was not involving any town residents or Doyle students. At no time were the citizens of Livingston or our schools being targeted nor was any party involved a Town resident or Doyle student.”
