LIVINGSTON PARISH — Counselors are on staff at Denham Springs High School after an overnight crash on Linder Rd. on Tuesday involving five former and current students.
It was just before 3 a.m. on Feb. 11th on Linder Rd., specifically in the curve between Arnold & Lockhart roads, when the crash happened in Livingston Parish. Five people were inside the vehicle.
Multiple sources have confirmed to UWK that the driver was likely speeding when they entered the curve on Linder Rd. and slammed into concrete culvert. That impact left the vehicle standing upright on its nose leaned up against a telephone pole. That pole broke due to the impact of the crash.
Two of the five teenagers in the vehicle died. Two others were listed in critical condition with one of them clinging to life. A fifth person sustained minor injuries in the crash. Names of the five involved in the crash have not been released at this time.
UWK has learned four of the five involved in the crash were former students at Denham Springs High School and one was a current student. The current student was not among the deceased. Officials do have counselors on staff for any current students, who may need them.
The official cause of the crash remains under investigation, but UWK is told the five people were not buckled. Autopsies are pending to confirm the exact cause and manner of death.
