BATON ROUGE — For a group of women, this time of year is an opportunity to use their platform to bless the lives of families around them. They’re members of “Bomb Squad.” Although this blessing was for Christmas, they help families throughout the year.
Bomb Squad started in 2018 and finds deals online for a variety of retailers. With multiple Facebook groups and over 450,000 members total, the group has discovered they’re able to make a huge difference in the communities they live and reach communities even beyond southeast Louisiana.
Using their large social media following, Bomb Squad helps families in need fulfill their wish lists during the Christmas season.
“The more people that know about it, the more people can help us to fulfill the wish list, and the quicker that a family’s completed, one more family can be fit in,” member Crystal Ivy said.
The first year, the group was able to help 10 families at Christmas time. This year, the group was able to help around 38 families.
For the Bomb Squad, the goal is always to help as many families as possible, no matter what that number is, because every family and child deserves.
“Whether it’s one family or 100 families, I hope we always have this opportunity and this platform to do that.”
