BATON ROUGE — Early voting for the November 5 Presidential election is now underway across Louisiana. In addition to choosing the President, voters will be deciding on several local races, including the East Baton Rouge Parish mayor-president race.
Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, and Tangipahoa parishes all have local races and propositions on the ballot.
The last day to vote early is October 29.
What to know about early voting
In Louisiana, no special reason is required to vote early. Voters can cast their ballots early for any election by visiting designated locations in their parish.
Early voting for the Presidential election began on October 18 and runs through October 29, excluding Sundays, October 20 and October 27. Voting hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The deadline to register to vote for the November 5 election has passed. However, the deadline to request an absentee ballot is November 1 by 4:30 p.m. (excluding military and overseas voters). You can request an absentee ballot online through the Voter Portal or in writing at your Registrar of Voters Office.

What do I need to bring to vote?
You will be asked to present a photo ID when voting. Acceptable IDs include a Louisiana driver’s license, a Louisiana Special ID card, a LA Wallet digital driver’s license, a U.S. military ID with your name and photo, or any generally recognized photo ID with your name and signature.
If you don’t have a photo ID, you’ll be required to complete a voter affidavit.
What’s on my ballot?
With federal offices on the ballot, as well as an amendment to the Louisiana Constitution, everyone will have something to vote on in this election.
Ascension, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, West Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana parishes are among 22 parishes with local races only. Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, and Tangipahoa parishes are among those with both local races and propositions.
You can view a sample ballot through the Secretary of State’s GeauxVote website by entering your first and last name, zip code, and birth month and year.
What if I want to vote on Election Day?
Election Day is November 5, with polls open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
