BATON ROUGE — The latest national flu data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows Louisiana is still reporting “very high” flu activity as of the beginning of January, but new state data shows cases are down.
The Louisiana Department of Public Health just released new numbers showing the number of flu cases is down to 22.38% as of Jan. 9, 2026, which is down from more than 30% at the beginning of the month.
Nationally, Louisiana is one of more than a dozen states to have “very high” flu activity for the week ending in Jan. 3, 2026. Cases are trending down across the country with influenza A still being the most frequently reported virus.
