Louisiana State Police Colonel Lamar Davis said Master Trooper Adam Gaubert died in the line of duty on Oct. 9, 2021.
Gaubert was a 19-yr veteran of the Louisiana State Police having started his career with LSP in 2002.
Gaubert was allegedly shot and killed at the hands of Matthew Mire around 3am, but he wasn’t found until nearly 6pm near Airline & Jefferson highways near the Capital One Bank in Ascension Parish. Colonel Davis said that part remains under investigation.

“It is with that I inform you with a heavy heart Master Trooper Adam Gaubert has been killed in the line of duty,” said Colonel Davis. “Trooper Gaubert, a 19-yr veteran of our department was ambushed while in his patrol unit. Preliminary information indicates that Trooper Gaubert was shot and killed in the area in which an early morning homicide occurred. The suspect, 31-yr-old Matthew Mire was taken into custody this evening shortly before 10pm without incident. Trooper Gaubert embodied everything we stand for, honor, duty, selfless serve and courage.”
Colonel Davis was devastated. “It is definitely a tough night. I’m not going to lie to you. This is one of the toughest nights of my entire career. It hurts but we will get through it.”
Mire is accused of shooting six people total through the entire day of Oct. 9, 2021, killing two of those people including Gaubert and Mire’s cousin’s girlfriend Pamela Adair.

He was eventually taken into custody just before 10:45pm after numerous agencies assisted.
