LPSO requesting help in finding third suspect after 11-yr-old girl shot, caught in crossfire

LIVINGSTON — An eleven year old girl is recovering in the hospital after she was shot over the weekend, caught in the crossfire.

Tai’lynn Hines was shot around 8:30 p.m. on May 11, 2024 on Ed Brown Rd. in Tickfaw in Livingston Parish. UWK has learned at least three people were shooting when Hines was caught in the crossfire and hit by a bullet.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested two brothers in connection to Hines’ shooting and deputies are asking for the public’s help in finding a third suspect, a 17-year-old.

Brothers K’shune McGee, 23, and David McGee, 19, were arrested on May 13. Both are charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and illegal use of weapons. K’shune is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

LPSO deputies are now searching for 17-year-old Ja’-den James of Tickfaw in connection to the shooting. Sources tell UWK the shooting involved the three men with the 11-year-old girl caught in between the men allegedly firing off their guns. James is wanted for three counts of attempted first-degree murder, illegal use of weapons and illegal possession of a handgun.

Meanwhile, the 11-year-old girl shot, Tai’lynn Hines, continues to improve but the family is in need of financial help. She remains in a hospital and her mother is left taking care of her and her other children.
