ZACHARY — As of the afternoon of March 18, officials have released more information about a 17-year-old Zachary teen who was kidnapped and located out of state.
Zachary Police has confirmed to UWK that the 17-year-old was kidnapped earlier this week. Police in Ardmore, Oklahoma, found the girl at a Love’s truck stop. Her parents were headed to pick her up Wednesday, Zachary Police Chief Darryl Lawrence said.
The suspect is in custody. Michael D. Jay will be booked with simple kidnapping, indecent behavior with a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. Chief Lawrence said Jay will be returned to Zachary to face charges.
The advisory was cancelled Tuesday evening.
Louisiana State Police (LSP) issued a Level II Endangered/Missing Child Advisory for 17-year-old Kailey Ann Marie Pounds. LSP issued the advisory on behalf of the Zachary Police Department.
Pounds was last seen on Monday, March 16 at her home on Mansion Rd. in Zachary. It was discovered she was missing Tuesday morning, March 17 around 7 a.m. LSP received a request to issue an alert around 8:15 a.m. Tuesday.
Pounds has blue eyes, straight brown hair, is 5’6″ tall and weighs approximately 130 pounds. The clothing she was wearing at the time is unknown. She’s believed to be traveling on foot in an unknown direction.
