While LSU baseball is prepping for Game 2 for the College World Series National Championship Series, the calendar continues to inch closer to the start of the college football season.
What may be one underrated element to the college football experience for true die-hard LSU football fans and others, is the importance of uniforms and team colors.
Some teams are known for historic colors or recognizable helmets, while others are not.
For those interested in that sort of thing, NJ. Bet has you covered. NJ. Bet , an online gambling site and comparison platform, surveyed over 800 people to find out which college uniform is the best in NCAA Division I.
Because of the large number of institutions nationwide that compete at the Division I level, the analysis was strictly pertaining to uniforms of teams in the Power 5 Conferences (Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), Big Ten Conference, Big 12 Conference, Pac-12 Conference, and Southeastern Conference (SEC).
Methodology
In June 2023, NJ Bet surveyed 805 Americans to get their feedback and opinions on college football uniforms for teams in the Power 5 conferences. Respondents were 44 percent female and 56 percent male, with an age range of 18 to 75 and an average age of 41.
Best College Football Uniforms
LSU Tiger football uniforms came in at No. 2 on the list of best uniforms behind archrival University of Alabama.
The University of North Carolina Tar Heels came in third.
Rounding out the top for best uniforms includes the Auburn Tigers, Florida State Seminoles, Michigan Wolverines, Arkansas Razorbacks, Vanderbilt Commodores, University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Bruins, and reigning national champs the Georgia Bulldogs.
The bottom of the rankings are the Oregon State Beavers. The Oregon Ducks also rank in the bottom five, as well as the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Maryland Terrapins, and Iowa State Cyclones.
Top Uniforms in Each Conference
Even if a team doesn’t rank as the best (or worst) overall out of all the NCAA Division I Power 5 conference teams, some of them are popular within their respective conferences.
In the SEC, Alabama’s uniform is first followed by LSU, Auburn, Arkansas and Vanderbilt.
Best and Worst Team Colors
While the North Carolina Tar Heels’ uniforms rank in the top three, the school’s colors top the list for best team colors. People love that blue!
Despite ranking as the second-worst uniform, the colors of the Oregon Ducks rank second-best. Following Oregon for best colors are Alabama, Colorado, and LSU.
What about the worst colors? The Utah Utes rank last for team colors. Other undesirable team colors include Syracuse, Ole Miss, Missouri, and Mississippi State.
