LSU working to restore internet following campus-wide network outage

BATON ROUGE — Louisiana State University is working to get internet on campus “back up and running” following an outage Monday, a spokesperson confirms to Unfiltered with Kiran.

“It’s a technical issue and unfortunately we do not have an estimate yet on when it will be fixed,” Alison Lee Satake told UWK.

LSU’s Information Technology Services says that the outages is an ongoing DNS issue on campus.

“Although users may experience sporadic connectivity, multiple services and apps including campus network access are still impacted,” LSU ITS said in a Facebook post. “We are working with the vendor to resolve this issue and will update as we know more.”

It’s unclear if the outage is connected to an outage at Southeastern Louisiana University.

Louisiana State Police is now investigating a “potential incident” within Southeastern’s network, the university announced Monday.

Communication networks at Southeastern have experienced outages since Friday. Because of the outages, students have not had access to course materials and email and students have not been able to use credit cards on campus.

The university says they intentionally took their network offline as a preventative measure.
