LSU running back Trey Holly claims innocence following arrest on three felony charges

BATON ROUGE — LSU running back Trey Holly announced on social media Saturday that he is “100% innocent” following his arrest on three felony charges last week.

Holly was arrested and charged with three felony charges, including attempted second-degree murder, Union Parish Sheriff Dusty Gates tells UWK.

“Holly was arrested after an investigation along with two other individuals stemming from an argument at the Union Villa Apartments on February 9,” Sheriff Gates said. “The individuals produced weapons and started firing and struck two bystanders.”

In his statement, Holly said he was falsely identified, accused and arrested. He said he was not involved in the incident.

According to the sheriff, a woman was transported to a Shreveport hospital in serious condition. Her condition has since been upgraded to stable. A male was transported to a hospital in Ouachita Parish, and he has since been discharged.

Sheriff Gates says that Holly was identified as the gunman by several witnesses. In addition to the second-degree murder charge, Holly was also charged with aggravated criminal damage to property and illegal use of a weapon. A 17-year-old and an 18-year-old, Jordan Jones, were also charged in connection to the shooting.

ESPN is reporting that Holly has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities.

Holly, a freshman running back during the 2023 football season, broke the high school career rushing yards record, accumulating 10,523 yards as a Union Parish high school player.
