Man accused of shooting brother in groin

A Baton Rouge man was arrested after he allegedly shot his older brother while in the midst of an argument.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Kevin Cundiff, 21, and charged him with attempted second-degree murder.

Deputies responded to the call at 1:55 a.m. on Aug. 15. Officials say the victim called 911 and said his brother shot him in the leg.

When the paramedics arrived they noticed the victim had a gunshot wound to the groin. He was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives say the victim explained that he had gotten into an argument with his brother. He said Cundiff was allegedly waving a gun around when it went off and the bullet hit him in the leg.

Officials say in a recorded interview at the Violent Crimes/Homicide Division Office, Cundiff said he and his brother got into an argument before he went into a separate room and closed the door.

Cundiff said his brother knocked on the door and when he opened it, Cundiff allegedly shot his brother in “the nuts,” according to the probable cause affidavit. Cundiff told his brother he’d shoot him again if he walked into his bedroom.

When Cundiff was informed of the possible consequences of the situation he responded with “To have him die by my own hand would be a fucking miracle,” according the probable cause affidavit.
