BATON ROUGE — A man arrested in August in two sexual assaults, in which he met the victims at Perkins overpass bars, has been accused of a third attack.
The victim contacted police after she learned that Elijah Clyde had been arrested in the other crimes, an arrest warrant said.
She told police she met Clyde, 24, at Ivar’s Sports Bar and Grill on June 18. They visited Duvic’s and Zee Zee’s where they had several drinks. She said she told Clyde that she did not want to have sex with him, and he promised that he wouldn’t try that, the warrant said.
She gave him her keys when they left at closing time, and he drove her home where they had more drinks and some cocaine, the warrant said. They later went to a home near Duvic’s and she said Clyde tried to have sex with her, the warrant said.
The woman told police her memory of the evening is impaired, but she said that he groped her while they were there. She called him a liar for breaking his promise and left. She was able to give police a location for the home where they wound up because she sent a video to her roommate letting the roommate know where she was. Location data from the video allowed police to find a home at 2223 Christian Street.
Neighbors there told police that Clyde frequently comes there with women who seem to be drunk, and provided “multiple examples” of that from doorbell cameras, the warrant said. One of the neighbors had a text message that identified Clyde by name.
The warrant for sexual battery, second-degree kidnapping and attempted third-degree rape was signed Wednesday.
Clyde has been jailed since August in two similar crimes – one in April and one in late June. In both cases he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman he drank with at Perkins overpass bars.
