BATON ROUGE —- A 26-yr-old is behind bars for allegedly raping a woman inside a dorm at LSU.
Court documents show that LSU Police responded to North Hall on Sept. 9, 2023 in response to a sexual assault that took place between 8-10pm that night.

Vishal Bhardwaj, 26, of Baton Rouge, is said to have raped the victim despite her verbally telling him to stop, according to his arresting documents.
The victim told officers that Bhardwaj “came over to her dorm room to talk but ended up raping her.” She added that the two “began discussing things related to sex, at which time she told him she did not want to have sex.” She added he did not have a condom.
She told police that “Bhardwaj then asked to kiss her, to which she said maybe, and he proceeded to kiss her in a very weird and aggressive manner.”
From there, she said Bhardwaj wanted to feel his body against hers and got behind her.
She said she was afraid, froze up and next thing she knew, she felt him attempting to engage in intercourse. That’s when court records say she verbally told him to stop.
He’s accused of vaginally raping her for approximately two minutes.
When Bhardwaj was questioned by officers, he is said to have apologized to the victim saying he “did it to the victim because he thought she liked it.”
When he was brought in for questioning on Sept. 11, officers said his story was very inconsistent and “he was not truthful in the interview, constantly adding or changing details of his version of what took place that night.”
He’s charged with one count of third degree vaginal rape.
