Man arrested, accused of posing as police officer with fake ID & badge

BATON ROUGE —- A Baton Rouge Police officer tried to stop a man for a traffic violation and ended up arresting him for allegedly posing as a police officer.

Ray Charles Ayo, 46

Ray Charles Ayo, 46, was arrested on May 29, 2024, after allegedly “posing as a law enforcement officer.”

Ayo is said to have repeatedly made false claims that he was law enforcement when he was pulled over for a traffic violation.

BRPD says Ayo had on him fraudulent law enforcement credentials such as a fake ID and badge. He’s also said to have had a strobe light and radio.

Ayo is charged with impersonating a peace officer.

BRPD is asking anyone who may have had any interactions with Ayo to please contact Baton Rouge Police at 225-389-2000 or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867.
