A Morgan City man accused of raping a juvenile was arrested last week in Terrebonne Parish.
Deputies arrested John Bergeron, 39, and charged him with first-degree rape and indecent behavior with a juvenile.
In June, detectives received a complaint from a now-adult female who alleged when she was 12 years old, she was raped at a residence in Bayou L’Ourse.

Officials say the victim identified Bergeron as her alleged attacker. Bergeron was accused of performing lewd acts in the victim’s presence and forcing her to perform sexual reciprocal acts.
During the investigation, detectives corroborated the victim’s allegations and gathered evidence to support the same. The victim knew the suspect.
On Dec. 9 Bergeron was arrested by Terrebonne Parish. He was transferred to Assumption Parish on Dec. 13 and booked into the detention center.
