Man arrested, accused of setting truck on fire

A man was arrested after allegedly setting a vehicle on fire in the Baton Rouge General Hospital parking lot on June 16, 2022.

Jamel Stoot was arrested and charged with simple arson after he was accused of setting a white pickup truck on fire in the hospital parking lot.

Officials say Stoot admitted he started the fire with a lighter. Stoot said he set his discharge papers on fire and put the burning papers on the truck’s hood.

Stoot was booked in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
