Man arrested, accused of shooting brother following dispute

INDEPENDENCE– The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a 19-year-old accused of shooting his brother following a dispute earlier this week.

Officials say Jaquaveon Nicholes was arrested without incident on Sept. 6 and charged with attempted second-degree murder.

Authorities say the shooting happened on Sept. 5 shortly after 6:30 p.m. on East Cooper Road. Nicholes’ brother is still in the hospital in critical but stable condition.

Nicholes was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.
