BATON ROUGE — A man was arrested for allegedly shooting a co-worker in a parking lot off Siegen Lane Tuesday evening.
Donald Tremall Brooks, 20, was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder and illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities.
Arrest documents say officers responded to the shooting in the Sam’s Club parking lot on N. Mall Drive a little after 9:30 p.m. on June 20. Surveillance video showed Brooks hiding behind a vehicle waiting on someone.
According to documents, the video showed the victim coming up to the car, and when the victim got close enough, Brooks walked from behind the vehicle armed with a weapon. Brooks fired multiple rounds at the victim, striking the person in the arm, according to police.
The victim was transported to a hospital. Their condition is currently unknown.
Officials say after the victim was hit and fell to the ground, Brooks stood over him, still holding the gun. The victim got off the ground and started walking toward Sam’s for help while Brooks allegedly went to his vehicle to save the weapon.
Arrest documents say Brooks allegedly chased the victim, forcing the victim to run to a nearby restaurant. Brooks returned to work. Brooks and the victim worked at Sam’s.
Officials say no one else was seen in the parking lot at the time of the shooting.
