Man arrested after setting fire on front porch

Baton Rouge Fire Detectives arrested a 20-year-old man accused of arson Tuesday morning, according to fire officials.

Law enforcement arrested John Plaisance and charged him with simple arson.

Firefighters were called to Plank Road for a reported structure fire. Officials say when firefighters arrived they found a fire on the front porch.

The fire was quickly extinguished. Officials say an eyewitness saw the suspect set the fire and then the witness called 911. An off-duty East Baton Rogue Sheriff’s Office deputy was driving by and placed Plaisance in custody until Baton Rouge Police uniform patrol arrived.

Plaisance was booked in the parish prison on the simple arson charge.
