Man charged with first-degree rape of 12-year-old

Zachary police arrested a 24-year-old Baker man accused of raping a 12-year-old.

According to officials, Zachary Police responded to a complaint of a juvenile who had sex with a man on multiple occasions. The suspect was later identified as Jalon Harris.

Police say detectives received screenshots of messages showing the victim and Harris talking about having sex.

On March 1, Zachary police, with the help of the Baker Police Department, located Harris at his job in Baton Rouge. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for first-degree rape.
