Man crashes his vehicle while attempting to drive to hospital after he was shot

BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge Police officers are asking for the public’s help with any information on a shooting that took place near a local church Saturday night.

It was around 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024 near Mohican and Tunica streets in Baton Rouge. That’s near the Times of Refreshing Church on Mohican St.

Baton Rouge Police say a man was driving around the area when someone opened fire and the man was shot in the leg. That’s when he attempted to drive himself to a hospital, but instead crashed.

He crashed into a home in the 3900 block of N. 38th St., where paramedics responded to the crash. The man was rushed to a hospital in serious condition on Saturday. His current condition is unknown at this time, but officials say he did sustain a non-life threatening injury.

The shooting remains under investigation. No details have been released into the shooter. Anyone with information is asked to call BRPD’s Violent Crimes Division at 225-389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867.
