Man dies in hospital following early morning shooting

BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge police are investigating the shooting death of a 52-year-old man that occurred just outside of downtown near McKinley Middle Magnet School.

Police say officers responded to the shooting on the 900 block of Cotton Street. around 1:19 a.m. Wednesday

Officers found the shooting victim, and he was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

Police say the victim’s name will be released after the family is notified. The suspect and motive are unknown.
