Manhunt underway for man accused of shooting a TN officer & killing a woman in NOLA

Several Tennessee law enforcement agencies are currently searching for BJ Brown, 32, in connection to an “ambush” on an Erin police officer.

The same suspect, Brown, is also wanted in connection to a homicide of a New Orleans clerk of court employee.

New Orleans police said Brown is wanted for a second degree murder that happened on June 27, 2022 around 9:30 am in the 1400 block of Iberville St.

NOPD obtained an arrest warrant for Brown and searched for him all of Monday during the day and night.

However, around 9pm, officials in TN said an Erin Police Officer in Houston County attempted to stop Brown for a traffic violation. When he pulled into a parking lot, he’s accused of opening fire at the officer.

The officer did fire back but Brown fled.

It’s why a manhunt is underway now for Brown in a wooded area in TN.

The officer shot is expected to be okay after non-life threatening injuries from the shooting.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of BJ Brown or information related to the fatal shooting that occurred in the 1400 block of Iberville Street is asked to contact the NOPD Homicide Unit at 504-658-5300 or call Crimestoppers anonymously at 504-822-1111 and toll-free at 1-877-903-7867.
