Manhunt underway in East Feliciana Parish for two men

SLAUGHTER — Multiple agencies are assisting in attempting to find two men who fled from an East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s deputy Tuesday morning leading to a manhunt.

It was around 7:45am on May 30 when a deputy attempted to stop a suburban pulling a four-wheeler on a trailer along Hwy. 412 near Hokaday and Lemon B roads. When the deputy tried conducting a traffic stop, the driver of the suburban took off, according to East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s officials.

After a short pursuit, the driver crashed the suburban and the two men inside took off running.

When officials ran the suburban’s plate, they found that it was a stolen vehicle out of Baton Rouge.

“Your safety is of the utmost importance to us. We are doing everything to apprehend the subjects. For people in the area, please be on the lookout for anything or anyone that appears to be the possible subjects. Please call 911 or 683-5459. Deputies are in the area. If anyone knocks on your door, do not open the door for anyone you do not know,” said East Feliciana Parish Sheriff Jeff Travis.

Multiple agencies are now assisting in the East Feliciana Parish manhunt including DCI, K9’s, EBRSO’s helicopter unit and State Police.

Sheriff Travis believes the men are in the Hwy. 412 area, which is why he’s asking residents to be vigilant and help them if they see anyone or anything suspicious.

The names of the men have not been released at this time.
