Marvin Braud Pump Station shut down after fire

Shortly before noon today, the Ascension Parish Government notified emergency services of a fire at the Marvin Braud Pump Station.

The parish government and emergency services responded to the fire soon after 12pm. The Marvin Braud Pump Station is currently shut down and out of service.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

At this time, the station is shut down to fully assess the damage, and, thankfully, no personnel were injured in the fire.

All gates valves will be opened to prevent high waters and to let the gravity drainage system activate.

Officials say this will take longer than the “usual operating procedures.”

Over the next 24 hours, rainfall is meant to be minimal but, the Ascension Parish Office of Homeland Security is following the weather and will keep officials updated with any changes.
