Missing Zachary woman found safe in West Feliciana Parish

ZACHARY — According to the West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office, a Zachary woman who had been missing since Wednesday morning has been found safely two days later.

West Feliciana deputies, along with members of the Louisiana State Penitentiary Chase Team, located Jolisa Perkins, 30, in a heavily wooded area off La Highway 421.

Early Wednesday morning, a West Feliciana resident came across someone whose car broke down and reported it to WFPSO, officials say. Deputies didn’t find the person but towed the vehicle from the roadway. It was later discovered that it was Perkins’ car.

According to West Feliciana Sheriff Brian Spillman, Perkins had slept in an unoccupied camp Wednesday and camped by a fire Thursday night.

“Family members reported to us that the young lady suffers from a mental health disorder, which may have influenced her to avoid human contact since leaving her disabled vehicle,” Spillman said.

Spillman said Perkins was in reasonably good health when found. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment and observation.
