ASCENSION — The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 39-yr-old Donaldsonville man in connection to a double homicide of a mother and her 13-month-old daughter.

APSO deputies were called out around 5:30 p.m. to respond to Hwy. 30 on Sunday, Jan. 14th. The scene is between Airline Hwy. & S. Purpera Ave. at the Oak Village trailer park.

Officials say Christina Lynn Artus, 41, and her 13-month-old baby Kaylee Forcell were shot and killed inside a residence. APSO deputies found their bodies inside.

Ascension deputies said both the mother and daughter were shot to death at close range in what appears to be a domestic violence situation.

Kalvin Forcell, 39, of Donaldsonville was arrested after the initial incident and questioned. He has since been charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He’s also charged with simple burglary of a vehicle, unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, theft of a motor vehicle over $25,000, illegal use of weapons, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of felonies.

Details on what led up to the deadly shootings have not been released at this time.
