Mother & son killed in Caddo Parish tornado

Baton Rouge, La: The deaths were the result of a tornado that destroyed a home.

The Louisiana Department of Health has confirmed 2 storm-related deaths in Caddo Parish.

The Caddo Parish coroner has confirmed the deaths of a 30-year-old woman and her 8-year-old son, who died of blunt force trauma after a tornado destroyed their home in Caddo Parish.

The coroner has confirmed these deaths are considered storm-related.

This brings the total number of confirmed Louisiana storm-related deaths due to this storm event to 2 at this time.

Governor John Bel Edwards took to Facebook to share his condolences:

“I am heartbroken to learn of the mother and child who were killed in Southwest Caddo Parish due to one of numerous reported tornados. My prayers go out to the family as well as those who were injured or lost their homes. I will be traveling to the Shreveport area and Union Parish today to tour the damage and response efforts. Unfortunately, this severe weather event is not yet out of our state as it now moves into Central and South Louisiana. Please stay weather aware and follow the directions of local officials.”
