BATON ROUGE — A mother is being credited after she turns in her own 14-year-old son. That teenager is now behind bars, accused of a deadly shooting of a woman on Sunday morning in Baton Rouge.
It happened around 11:30 a.m. in the 3700 block of Plank Rd. on Jan. 19. Latasha Thomas, 48, went up to a group of teenagers and confronted them if the vehicle they were in, was stolen. The woman is said to have recognized the alleged stolen vehicle. That’s when the 14-year-old allegedly shot and killed the woman.
In this case, the mother of the teenager turned in her own son for the deadly shooting.
The teenager has been charged with second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon. He was transported to the juvenile detention center. He will then go before a judge in juvenile court, where a bond could be set.
Due to his juvenile status, the teenager’s name cannot be released.
