SLIDELL – State police are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle in St.Tammany Parish Wednesday evening.
Louisiana State Police says the crash killed Matthew Brewer, 33, of Slidell.
According to police, Brewer was westbound on LA Hwy 433, driving a motorcycle. For reasons still being investigated, Brewer crossed the center line and veered off the road to the left.
After veering off the road, the motorcycle hit a utility pole.
Officials say Brewer sustained fatal injuries despite wearing a DOT-approved helmet. He died on the scene. As part of the investigation, police obtained a toxicology sample.
“Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued, or distracted. Follow all traffic laws and always ensure every occupant is properly restrained. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.”
