Motorcyclist killed in Tangipahoa crash

A crash at the intersection of LA 22 and LA 1249 in Tangipahoa Parish killed a 57-year-old woman riding on a motorcycle on Nov. 8, according to Louisiana State Police.

Troopers are investigating the fatal two-vehicle crash that killed Janie Blouin.

Troopers say the initial investigation revealed Ami Gauthier, 22, was driving a Jeep Renegade southbound on LA 1249 while Blouin was traveling west on LA 22 on a motorcycle. For reasons still being investigated, the Jeep failed to yield to oncoming traffic and traveled into the westbound lane on LA 22 and hit the motorcycle.

Authorities say Blouin was wearing a DOT-approved helmet but died at the scene. Gauthier was properly restrained and was uninjured. Gauthier was not suspected of being impaired and voluntarily submitted to a chemical breath test which showed no alcohol detected. A routine toxicology sample was collected from Blouin and submitted for analysis.

The crash remains under investigation.
