RAMAH — Interstate 10 is shut down eastbound and traffic is slow moving in the westbound lanes after multiple 18-wheelers were involved in a crash on Wednesday afternoon.
It was around 3 p.m. when the crash happened on Interstate 10 over the Atchafalaya Basin near mile marker 128, that’s near the Ramah exit.
At this time, it appears at least four big rigs were involved in the crash. Injuries are not considered to be life-threatening. Instead there are mild to moderate injuries from the crash.
That crash triggered a complete shut down of I-10 in both directions with traffic being diverted off at the Hwy. 415 exit in West Baton Rouge on I-10 westbound. The eastbound lanes remain closed at this time.
Drivers are urged to take alternate routes, including 190.
Louisiana State Police is leading the investigation into the crash and the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office & West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office are assisting.
