NAPOLEONVILLE — A Napoleonville man is facing charges for his fourth DUI after being arrested by the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Michael L. Gaines, 67, was arrested Friday when deputies were investigating illegal drug activity near the intersection of Jefferson and Philosopher Streets in Napoleonville.
Assumption Parish Sheriff’s deputies say they noticed Gaines parked near the intersection and attempted to talk to them.
Instead, Gaines allegedly put something on the floorboard of his vehicle, ignoring commands from deputies. It’s why deputies had to remove Gaines out of his vehicle.
Deputies say they found a gun and crack cocaine in the vehicle, along with drug paraphernalia on Gaines.
Deputies also say Gaines smelled of alcohol and appeared to be intoxicated.
He is being charged with:
- Possession of cocaine
- Resisting an officer
- Possession of alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle
- Driving under a suspended driver’s license
- Illegal carrying of weapons in the presence of controlled dangerous substances.
- Detainer — Louisiana Department of Corrections, Division of Probation and Parole.
