BATON ROUGE — The suspect and victim involved in a deadly double shooting on I-110 were seen together before, during, and after the incident, according to court documents.
Tyquincy James, 24, was arrested on Tuesday on multiple charges, including first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
Baton Rouge Police allege that James shot and killed 22-year-old Antoine Bowie and an unnamed passenger on August 17 on I-110 northbound at Dayton St., near ExxonMobil. Bowie was pronounced dead at the scene, and police say his passenger was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the face. The passenger is expected to survive.
Court documents indicate that James and Bowie’s vehicles were captured on surveillance video together before, during, and after the homicide. James was seen driving a red four-door Kia, accompanied by a 16-year-old juvenile suspect, whose name has not been released due to his age.
According to the affidavit, police located James’ vehicle on Tuesday morning. He was arrested while leaving a residence, and during a subsequent search, police found a Glock 17 handgun with an extended magazine and a machine gun conversion kit hidden “just inside the attic.”
James is facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities, contributing to the delinquency of juveniles, and possession of a machine gun. Police say James had “specific intent to kill” Bowie, the affidavit reveals.
BRPD have not released details on whether the teen has been arrested in this case.
