BATON ROUGE — The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office Gang Intelligence and Enforcement Unit arrested a suspected fentanyl and cocaine distributor after a multi-month investigation. On Nov. 19, Rodney “Luck” Johnson was arrested. He has already been on active probation for previous drug-related convictions.
Throughout October and November, EBRSO Gang Intelligence and Enforcement Unit members, led by EBRSO’s SCAT division, investigated a suspected fentanyl and cocaine distributor named Rodney Johnson. Agents conducted surveillance at both Johnson’s home on Meadowdale Drive and his business on Plank Road.

After agents conducted a narcotics traffic stop of cocaine and fentanyl from a person who met with Johnson at his home, they were able to obtain a search warrant for Johnson’s residence, business and vehicle. Agents also obtained an arrest warrant for Johnson’s violation of LRS 40:967A-Distribution of a schedule II drug.
On Tuesday, Nov. 19, SCAT agents arrested Johnson after he left his home. After he was in custody, agents executed their search warrants. They made the following seizures:
Seized Narcotics & Currency:
- 1.18 pounds (528.88 grams) powder fentanyl or fentanyl compound (enough for 5,290 lethal doses)
- 19 dosage units (13.2 grams) powder fentanyl capsules
- 14.9 grams crystal methamphetamine
- 29.1 grams cocaine
- 17.6 grams marijuana
- 8.18 ounces synthetic cannabinoid
- 3 digital scales (Positive for fentanyl)
- Plastic baggies, syringes, large bag of empty capsules, and narcotics cutting agent
- Pill capsule press (positive for fentanyl)
- $20,581.00 (PENDING SEIZURE)
Firearms
- Glock 43X semiauto 9mm handgun
During agents’ interviews with Johnson, he admitted that the fentanyl, cocaine, and all paraphernalia, along with all the money, located at his home belonged to him, according to officials. He also admitted to selling narcotics since he got out of jail.
Johnson was charged with the following:
- Distribution of a schedule II drug (Fentanyl) **AFFIDAVIT WARRANT**
- Possession with intent to distribute (PWTID) schedule I drug (marijuana)
- PWTID schedule I drug (synthetic cannabinoid)
- PWTID schedule II drug (fentanyl)
- PWTID schedule II drug (crystal methamphetamine)
- PWTID schedule II drug (cocaine)
- Possession of a firearm by a felon
- Possession of a firearm with CDS
- Operation of a clandestine lab
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
According to officials, Johnson has previous convictions ranging from simple burglary to felony theft, in addition to drugs related convictions. He has previously been convicted of possession of a schedule II drug and possession with intent to distribute meth, heroin, and oxycodone.
Johnson is on active probation for his most recent drug convictions until Oct. 1, 2025.
