New Orleans rapper Mystikal arrested, charged with rape

New Orleans Rapper Michael Tyler, 52, better known by his stage name Mystikal, was arrested and charged with first-degree rape, according to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Officials say Ascension Parish deputies were called to a local hospital on July 30 in relation to an alleged sexual assault.

Detectives interviewed the victim who suffered minor injuries during the attack. After further investigation, Tyler was arrested and booked in the Ascension Parish Jail.

Tyler is also charged with simple robbery, domestic abuse battery-strangulation, false imprisonment and criminal damage to property. After detectives were able to run a search warrant on Tyler’s home, they’ve updated the charges to include:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine (felony)
  • Possession of Marijuana (Misdemeanor)
  • Possession of Sch. IV CDS (Alprazolam; Felony)
  • Possession of Heroin (Felony)
  • Drug Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor)

The investigation is ongoing.
