A part-time New Roads Police Department employee has been arrested accused of tipping off the target of an undercover drug investigation in Pointe Coupee Parish.
Loretta Foster Dobard, 53, of New Roads, is charged with one count of attempted conspiracy and one count of malfeasance in office.
Sources said given Dobard worked at the New Roads Police Department to answer phones. She was in the loop about the undercover investigation. Her daughter’s boyfriend was one of the alleged targets in the drug roundup. Dobard is accused of telling him that undercover agents would be doing a roundup & looking for him.
She was arrested Thursday night, Aug. 4th.
“It’s unfortunate but once she’s released from jail, she will no longer have her job,” said New Roads Police Chief Kevin McDonald.
Prior to working with the New Roads Police Department for the last few months, she was a sergeant at the Pointe Coupee Parish Jail before she resigned.
The undercover drug investigation in Pointe Coupee Parish was in conjunction with the Louisiana State Police Task Force. They arrested ten individuals in total in the drug roundup.
