NEW ROADS — A woman was shot and killed in New Roads late Monday night according to city police.
New Roads Police Chief Delaney Lee said a 24-year-old woman was shot and later died from her injuries at the hospital. The victim was identified as Shaniqua Smith.
Lee said the incient occurred at a home on Olinde Street. Authorities got the call at approximately 8:38 p.m.
“It was a domestic situation,” Lee said. “It was two girlfriends.”
No further details have been provided at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
