Officer picks up lost dog to return to owner

A lost dog got to play "officer for a day" as a French Settlement police officer picked him up to later return him to his owner.

A French Settlement police officer responded to a call for a “possible abandoned dog.” On Friday, Jan. 28th.

A dog, named Sam, showed up at a Best Stop gas station in French Settlement. The employees at the gas station did take care of Same, fed him and gave him water.

That’s when French Settlement Officer David Griese got the call and took Sam with him. He started by checking in with area shelters if they had any missing dog reports. Just as Sam was prepping to become a trained K-9 for Officer Griese, Sam’s owner was calling around trying to find his missing dog.

Sam apparently decided to jump out of a truck window and then went roaming. His dad though, could not make it to French Settlement until at least 4pm so Sam & Officer Griese patrolled the streets of the Village of French Settlement until then.

Sam’s dad ended up meeting Officer Griese at the police department for a happy reunion.
